TIPS AND TRICKS

This came up in one of the threads and a very cool mod had the great idea of posting it here, too. These are just a few little tricks I have picked up recently in my mass production of little paper people:

  • The scissors you use make all the difference in the world! I use scrapbooking scissors called "CutterBees" with super sharp blades and nice pointed tips. They really help with the detail work. NOTE: They are not good for children though. My 9-year old niece didn't listen when I told her they're super sharp and it ended up being a SpongeBob bandaid moment.

  • I just recently started cutting out everything except the arms at first. Then I cut just the straight edge of the arm and THEN fold and glue. And THEN cut out the details of their hands and whatever they are holding. I doesn't work so well with the king crab ones, but I killed myself on a bagillion little guys before I figured that out.

  • I also make sure I fold everything before gluing. When I first started, I would just do sections at a time and start gluing (I have no patience)...next thing you knew, I had a giant ball of glue and paper . . . and then it sailed into the trash can. Luckily, all you have to do is reprint!!
NOTE FROM THE ARTIST: This project is a culmination of three creative professionals having fun. We're not crazy or eerily obsessed, although we love ourselves some DC!)

Hey, everyone! Not sure if anyone noticed, but I haven't been on the Wiki for over a month or two, and I apologize! My life took a crazy turn and I had to get all the piece back together. However, I'm back! I know I still have to finish the Wizard Playset, and I will as soon as I finish up some large freelance jobs I just got (gotta please the clients!). Hope everyone is doing well!

Score all the fold lines with one of those scrapbook scoring things or something with a hard edge-makes folding so much easier.
I sent the Northwestern set to my brother in a shoebox lined with ocean and sand scenes paper. He liked it but had to take it to work to keep the cats from playing with Sig, Edgar and the boys.

If you could you should make a Billikin! I know it was only shown once but it is still an awesome looking vessel. Thanks again for the ones you made though!
