DEADLIEST CATCH | EPISODE TITLE: Pribilof Stare
Original Air Date: May 30, 2006

Season: 2

Crab Count:

SYNOPSIS: Freezing weather and severe icing are making life on a crab boat miserable. The icy decks of the Cornelia Marie claim their first victim when deckhand Dave Millman takes a nasty spill and rolls his ankle. Capt. Andy Hillstrand of the Time Bandit navigates the northern ice pack, and the ship's deckhands are forced to take breaks from fishing to beat thousands of pounds of icy buildup from every inch of steel. On the Maverick, fishing comes to a standstill when the crew attempts to jury-rig a shattered stiff arm after losing 2 pots to the ice pack.

MAJOR SETBACKS
VICTORIES
  • Captain Jerry "Corky" Tilly of the Alleutian Ballad has 80 pots that have been covered by the ice so they might be looking at a loss for the season of $80,000.

  • The Rollo is finally seeing huge numbers of her crab but her crew is not all that interested in coming up with an accurate count which will bite them later.

  • On the Cornelia Marie longtime Deckhand Dave Millman jumps off the launcher and rolls his ankle over all the way to the deck. The Cornelia Marie must take Dave to the clinic on St. Paul to see if he can continue fishing.

  • The Maverick offloaded 70,000 lbs. at st. Paul and then they went back out for more.

  • After days of meager pots and endless ice chipping, the Time Bandit finally gets on the crab.

MOST HAIR-RAISING MOMENTS
  • It is -25 degrees where the Time Bandit is fishing and they are icing badly. They must stop fishing and spend an entire day chipping the ice off the boat.

  • On the Maverick the stiff-arm that holds the block steady has busted so they must weld it back on or they cannot continue to fish. As they try to weld it the deckhands get constantly electrocuted so so instead they choose to have the block swing a bit and they just tie it down the best they can.

  • Deckhand Sean Piko of the Maverick almost gets crushed by a pot as it comes on deck.
