Deadliest Catch Captain Profiles | Sig Hansen

Sig Hansen Bio:Sig Hansen, whose father was one of the original crab fishermen of Dutch Harbor, has been a captain since the age of 22. A fourth-generation Norwegian fisherman, Sig is very superstitious, but always brings back a big catch. He and his two brothers Norman and Edgar, (Sig is the eldest) not only work on the Northwestern, they own it. Living proof that blood is thicker than water, this three-brother crew has fished together for almost 20 years. Sig revels in the strategy and competition of fishing.

MEMORABLE QUOTES

MEMORABLE TV MOMENTS
  • SHUT UP AND FISH!

  • Robots are good. Robots don't think. Robots are used to repetition. Robots don't complain. Robots are little zombies.

  • This is the art of jamming gear down your throat ... one [pot] on the block, one on the bow and one on the stern, and the table full of crab! That makes skipper happy. Crew not happy when skipper does that.

  • The longer I work the better I feel.

  • You have to go by gut instinct.
  • ...you don't like it, get off.
  • I like full tables I can not lie

    • Prank: Capt. Sig shuts off the fresh water supply as Matt Bradley is showering!
    • In the last scene of the last episode in Season 1, Capt. Sig shares his personal heartfelt thoughts and feelings on the closing of an era...the end of Derby-style fishing.
    • Capt. Sig seems to be an average person who is caring and likable.
Capt Sig reads the suggestion/complaint box.
    • Capt. Sig pulls a prank on Capt. Phil's pots.
    • Capt. Sig gets tired in Season 3 and needs a little cheese.
