What a heartbreaking season so far!

Wow, so we were all bummed about Phil and then Keith got hurt, but last night's episode was gut wrenching! This season is so ominous so far. I hope next week we get a "unicorn chaser." I want to see nothing but pranks and greenhorns puking. Even my husband was crying last night!

When my husband watches this one today he is going to ball like a baby!! Don't tell him I said that! LOL. He just feels so attached to these guys! I really hope the season starts to go better for them all. I am still waiting for Phil to come back. I wonder if they will do an update show later and fill us in on what the survivors are doing today? I am really interested in finding out. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Yes the loss of most of that crew was a very hard show to watch,I knew that the amount of time that had passed before they got to where the boat went down was not going to be a good outcome. I was surprised that they found the 4 guys still alive after all the time that went by. Any loss of life is tragic but a couple of those guys were only boys, one 19 and on his first fishing boat job. May God be with their families. I too was wondering if the two greenhorns that were saved would go back out on a fishing boat again, they were not ask that question in the interview. 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

Heart wrenching indeed..It was nice, though, to see Sig's crew do well and play around in the end. We needed that after watching and listening to the survivors of that other crew.
Good question whether the greenhorns will go back out crabbing. Wouldn't blame them if they didn't, but wouldn't shake my head if the did.

I was surprised by the survivors, too! And the story... my God. Their raft flipping over all night, their buddy turning to say "We'll see our kids again," only to be washed away.

Okay, I'm in a coffee shop and crying now, just typing this. Better stop for now, people will become concerned...

Maybe if there hadnt been a storm out there that night the rest of the ones on the rafts could have made it but not with huge seas and very strong winds.

Oh, most definately; We need some happy episodes. We know these captains & crews are working hard jobs, & it's not all fun & games out there. We are honored to be able to witness just what they do, & it's heartbreaking when any crew members are lost at sea.

Hopefully the Opie season will be a little happier for all concerned. We all know these brave men risk their lives daily, & we are honored to witness them while they do their dangerous work. Only fate knows what will happen as the season resumes....Good luck to all concerned...........................Sajsam

Well , I watched the episode last nite for opies and I have to say ... It was GREAT to see Capt. PHIL!!! I was heartbreaking though to see him come back and have all the mechanical trouble with the CM. He has sunk soo much money into that boat and then to have the delay in getting out to the crab grounds. I was also surprised that Murray was leaving for home and would not be going out for opies. What's up with that? Then the Wizard had engine trouble. They did not show much of fishing , but I'm sure that will come in the next episodes. Also , I was very surpised at Capt. Andy's comments about Russell being lazy in regard to who would maybe be cut from the crew. I don't know if it is editing, but I've never noticed him to be lazy. I guess time will tell and it should be an exciting opie season.... Do you find this valuable?

If you watch at 11pm, they rerun the show from the last week and if you can stay up until midnight, they show the new episode again. Might be a possibility for you! SilverSun1

It truly was wonderful to see Captain Phil back. I love that guy. Not a good beginning for him; as you said...all that money. I, too, was suprised that Murray was leaving, I hope it isn't for good. I was also suprised with Andy's comments about Russell; I never thought he was lazy. Of course, all we see is what is edited for the show so who knows?? The ending was a cliffhanger with the guys on the stack and that huge wave breaking over them. Lord...that's some scary stuff!! SilverSun1

It was very intense last night but I just cant believe that Murray quit and Murray was Phils right hand. But it was great to have Phil back where he belong. Do you find this valuable?

I saw on a different website that Murray is starting his own business. He will be sadly missed. CM is really having trouble and the preview are any look into the future, doesn't look any better. I was kinda confused about the TB and Russell. At the end of King Crab they said they had to let someone go. Scotty was safe ofcourse . But then they hired someone? Whats up with that!!!! Russel saved Johnathans life at least once that I know of. I guess a thank you can only go so far. If I was in the same position I would just have to say Thanks Sincerly, but the best man for the job wins. I couldn't offerd to carry someone if they didn't earn it. Do you find this valuable?

It was heartbreaking to see Murray go. He was a broken man though after bringing in the CM with all that broken crab.
That was probably the clincher for him. But yes, it is so wonderful to have our Cap't. Phil back.

Lets look on the bright side ..maybe Murray has some old salt in his blood and will not be able to stay away from the sea, just as our Captain Phil did
