"I personally do not think either one is ready to take the helm. I think Josh should be first in line to be captain then Jake. Jake showed some signs of laziness and he seems to expect others to look after him and blames Josh for misplacing or stealing his stuff. Phil said some things in other episodes that concern me as far as him being mature enough and responsible enought to take over this boat. Jake needs a couple more years under his belt but maybe with Phil's passing it has matured him and he is ready and responsible to take over. We will just have to wait until next season to see."

"It is very sad what happened last night and I hope he is receiving the help he needs. He and Josh are both in my thoughts and prayers having an addiction is a terrible thing and I am sure Discovery is helping him get the right support. I am sure this now puts a damper on any decisions to make him captain. "

"Is it me or is Jake becoming more of a flake, goof off every episode?? Phil was ready to kick Jake's butt when he was goofing off, but when he caught him stealing his medicine.....wow!! At that point I did not want the episode to end, because I wanted to see what happened next. Oh well, next week should be real, real interesting. Anyway my point is this, Jake is not even close to captain material now. He may or may not be able to kick his addiction and this will certainly put him behind the eight-ball for a while."

"Gina, as predicted the show tonight was one of the best. Phil forgave Jake, right after he said he didn't want anything to do with him anymore for stealing his pain pills. When Jake admitted to being addicted, Phil was flabbergasted! He was ready to send Jake right to treatment and be by his side to see him through. But at the end of the episode when Phil had his stroke, you gotta wonder if Jake will actually go to the clinic. Also when Phil had the stroke, Josh showed his maturity and was ready to do whatever it took to do the right thing for the Cornelia Marie. He was taking charge. Yes, Josh will definitely make a good captain. "
