Phil getting call from Doc
Apr 23 2009, 4:19 PM EDT | Post edited: Apr 23 2009, 4:19 PM EDT
It was so sad when Phil was left standing ashore watching his boat and crew/sons leaving without him. I can't imagine how hard it must be to have your life put on hold like that. I hope Phil is able to concentrate on counting his blessings though and find new things to do that will continue to bless his life and others. I can only imagine how his sons and crew feel leaving him behind like that too. I hope he has diligent doctors who will do everything in their power to enable him to get on with life. Best wishes to Phil. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family and crew! 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

We were also very sad when the doctor called and told Phil he could not go to sea. I just have gotten so attached to all these captains and feel like they are family. I have watched and rewatched all the episodes. we have only been watching for the last four or five months. You could just see Phil's heart breaking when his ship left port. I pray he will get well this season and be able to return to his ship next season. I watch all these men young and older do all these streneous jobs. I may be old myself but watching all of you make me feel young myself. I was raised on a dairy farm hauling hay and picking up new born calves. That is nothing compared to the hard work all of you do. The one I like the most is where they throw the hook. For some reason that just thrills me. I will stop before I bore you to death. But We love all of you very much. I pray everyone of you has a great season. Capt. Phil will be back next season Lots of love and prayers are with you. Pete and Maude Dean Athey from Amite Luoisiana. It is amazing how deeply you can come to feel for men who are virtually strangers but I feel as if they are family too. I hope Phil can draw comfort from the fact that there are so many people out there pulling for him and who geniunely care about him. All the boat's captains and crews have my best wishes. I know this is a job to them and their livlihood but to us watching it is about their happiness and well being, much deeper than just a job. Even though having the cameras there can be a major pain to them, I hope they realize the recognition and respect they have brought to the awesome jobs that they do.

I was hoping that Phil was going to be better for this King Crab season, but as a nurse, I had this feeling that he wasn't going get out. The medications he is probably on (blood thinners) will cause a lot of other problems. If he bumps himself anywhere, he can have exesssive bleeding, internal or external, as well as having another episode like he had last year.
I'm sorry Phil, but you want to live a little longer you may have to give up fishing for crab.
Even though Josh & Jake are a pain sometimes, there is a little bit of you on the Corneilia Marrie, because they are there.
You have passed the Harris clan mantle to both of them, even though they are not captains yet. Your Relief Captain Murray Gamrath is watching over them and is teaching them all they need to know. He is not a substitute father for the boys but he does look after them.
GET WELL PHILL!!!!
